Product and technology leader · Istanbul

Kemal Büyüktaş

I rebuild platforms without stopping the business, and turn scattered processes into products and AI into measurable results.

Nine years from DevOps to product and technology leadership, at COMPAREX, Modanisa, arabam.com and FLO Group. At Modanisa I led the move of eight core domains to a new architecture while the business kept running. At FLO Group I led the group-wide digitalisation programme as product owner: 18 initiatives that brought four companies onto one platform. My work has been published in four conference papers, and in the 2026–27 autumn term I teach two courses, on digital transformation in the age of AI and on e-commerce, at five universities.

Three areas of expertise

Every case study on this site belongs to one of them.

Rebuild platforms without stopping the business

Eight core e-commerce domains moved to a new architecture one after another. Seven products were built on a single product source, and checkout conversion rose by about 18%.

Modanisa · 2018–2022

Turn processes into products

18 back-office initiatives went through a single governance model. Each request matured first, and only then moved from prototype to MVP.

Make AI deliver measurable results

Generative AI cut content production time by about 70% across 121,000+ products. Computer vision routed store events to the right person in some 600 stores, and autonomous agents took over the process steps that repeat.

How I work

Six habits drawn from my own project documents. Each can be traced to a case study.

  • Rules freeze before code.

Business rules are written and approved before development starts. A rule that changes later goes out in a planned release.

    Corporate shipping platform, 19 rules

  • Only a mature request passes the gate.

Every request goes through a maturation document and a decision gate. A vague request never enters the queue.

    Digitalisation programme

  • A prototype replaces the meeting.

Discussion happens on a versioned prototype, so stakeholders see what they will get before it is built.

Dozens of screen versions per module

  • The MVP stays small; the rest waits its turn.

The first release takes the most valuable slice. Everything else is written into named phases, so nothing is forgotten.

    Procurement platform

  • Every integration sits behind an interface.

External systems connect through an adapter. When the vendor changes, the platform does not.

    Carrier adapter, camera event layer

  • Dates are ranges, risks are visible.

A single date hides its assumptions. I talk in ranges, surface the risks early and say what has to stay true for the date to hold.

    Every roadmap since 2023

What colleagues say

Written on LinkedIn by engineers and leads I have worked with.

Ridiculously Efficient. I had the pleasure of working with Kemal in various project teams for about two years at Modanisa. The ability to handle multiple projects has made a dramatic difference in the productivity level of our team. I think Kemal would be a value for any team.
